It was all so simple back when I first started playing FPS Games. You eagerly waited for the latest installment Quake to be released and rush to the shops to grab a copy. Today things have changed with so many top titles hitting the shelves month after month the choice can be endless. But why would you want to pay for a game when there’s so much choice for free? Here's three reasons why you would never want to pay!
First: Test drive!
When have you gone out and purchased a title, toyed with it for a day and never touched it again? Just on about myself here I can honestly say I have done this more times than I would like to remember or would want to cause it would just make me brake down in tears thinking of the money that's gone down the drain! The biggest beauty with free to play is that the only thing you would be throwing away is time and some HD space while you work out should I or shouldn't I continue enjoying it.
Gone are the years where $40 title becomes nothing more than a new coffee mat or new Frisbee for the dog! Say good bye to the years of rolling yourself out of bed early on release day to get yourself down to the computer shop in time to grab a copy. Just enter your details. Click the download button and return back after an hour to ready to install Free FPS title.
Second: Pay for what you get right?
You would think so! In my experience over the years with these free fps games the quality has always been Superb. I would go as far to say that there right on par with the paid games to! The graphics are incredible, pushing the boundaries with other top paid games. 1 example to point out would be Global Agenda. This title has been built with the same 3D engine that runs Quake (Unreal 3D engine 3) and is also a lot of fun to! Quake costs? Global Agenda costs nothing!
The level of the servers is also another thing to point out. I have lost score how many occasions I have had to quit a server in Call of Duty due to it being badly taken over with bad latency. A player bouncing from one end of screen then shoot straight off to the other and it’s not just me either, just scanning over the in game chat you can see its affecting everyone. Recently I have been playing a free to play title called Combat in Arms. Within this free fps title I can with all my heart say server latency has never made me break down and cry. Don't get me wrong it does happen but for the majority of the time I am happy in the fact that the game runs like a hot knife through butter, even when playing it on my laptop.
Third: Free FPS Games don't have content!
Do you think paid games have more content? Or at least you would think so since you’re forking out dollars for it. I would say that paid games do have a lot more single player content than a free fps title. The free titles almost always seem to focus solely on multiplayer aspect of first-person shooter.
But is there content as large as a paid game?
Definitely and probably more on top to. Just to point out my claim for you, there is a free FPS MMO called Operation 7 and has a staggering amount of maps and gaming modes. over 17 different locations and 5 different styles of modes to choose from and has upgrades coming out constantly. MMOFPS's such as Combat in Arms have a staggering 300+ armoury of weapons to choose from. Yes some of these do involve micro-transactions but they got to keep the servers going right?
Bottom line is free fps games are just as good if not better than the paid versions just for the above 3 reasons.
